"Having made the decision to let Damen in, Laurent had not gone back on it. When the walls went up, it was with Damen inside them."MY BABIES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
Imagine giving this less than 5 stars, can't relate___Reread before The Adventures Of Charls:I honestly need a different rating system for the Captive Prince books because there's no way this is ONLY a five starsOriginal review:If this was still 2016, I would be writing something like "Yuri On Ice and The Summer Palace saved 2016". As it happens, this is 2017, so allow me to say:Whatever shit will happen this year, whatever nuclear war is waiting for us, The Summer Palace single-handedly, retroa [...]
Having made the decision to let Damen in, Laurent had not gone back on it. When the walls went up, it was with Damen inside them.HOLY SHIT WHAT WAS THIS C.S. PACAT DID THATIM CRYING I CANT BREATH DAMEN AND LAURENT ARE SO IN LOVE AND SO HAPPY AND IM A WEEPING MESS HEREsorry but this is not a review its just a mess by me, a mess also it's literally story recap so there are only spoilers so please proceed with caution He loved the way that Laurent kissed, as if Damen was the only person that he had [...]
5 Stars."Are you courting me?"said Damen30 page epilogue that was just beautiful. What can I say,Laurent and Damen are perfect together. For now it was the simple pleasure of Laurent beside him, their hands linked, with only sunlight and fresh air about them. For fans of this series this is must read.
"His smile widened.Laurent said, ‘What?’‘You were watching the road,’ said Damen."It flipping breaks my heart to see how beautifully in love these two people are. The Summer Palace is as sweet and cute as it gets. Seriously, you couldn't wish for more. I enjoyed it to no end, I truly did -why, I swoon when I so much as see their names in the same sentence; I couldn't not enjoy it. Seeing Laurent without all of his barriers is so painful and emotional and generally perfect.‘You didn’t [...]
My skin is clear, my crops are thriving, my children are fed, and this epilogue made me even gayer, which is to say that it truly was a divine gift from our Lord and saviour C.S. Pacat. My soul has been saved; no need to send me to heaven, for I have already been there. And it was told that we should receive an epilogue, so thy author said 'The Summer Palace'. And it was good.Amen, brothers and sisters. Amen.
I wish this would've been included in the books because whereas I just expected it to be light and happy, it confronts the dark and problematic past of their relationship. Damen & Laurent continue to be two of the most fleshed out and vivid characters I've read about, and Pacat's writing is so detailed and clever and putting down this book made me crave more books that get me attached to characters because I miss such angsty and tangible character dynamics like this
I enjoyed the Captive Prince trilogy, but I always felt the end of Kings Rising was a tad unfinished/abrupt. So when a friend told me this short story was available I had to read it.It's the perfect epilogue to this series. Period.
"It was so close to his own thoughts - that everything he knew was gone, but that this was here, in its place, this one bright thing.""And in our new palace", said Laurent, "on the border?" Damen felt warmth pool in his stomach. "Our new palace.""He loved the way that Laurent kissed, as if Damen was the only person that he had ever kissed, or would ever want to."
That everything he knew was gone, but that this was here, in its place, this one bright thing. The Summer Palace takes place after the end of the trilogy, and offers a little glimmer into what happened at the end of Kings Rising, as well as what would come to pass in the months after. For now it was the simple pleasure of Laurent beside him, their hands linked, with only sunlight and fresh air about them.I was so eager when I saw that this was a short story specifically about Laurent and Damen, an [...]
I wasn't wowed. Nothing but a fluffy PWP that diverts from the intelligence and artfulness of the previous works in the series. Shallow in emotion, high in sensuality, Damen read like an eager stud and Laurent a slave. Both were reduced to one-dimensional prototypes of themselves as if Pacat is no longer in touch with her characters, but the ideal of them. If you are looking for something to melt your heart like playing with a roomful of puppies while ignoring the realities waiting outside the [...]
Having made the decision to let Damen in, Laurent had not gone back on it. When the walls went up, it was with Damen inside them. The Summer Palace is the epilogue we've all been waiting for. And it delivers. Namely, it delivers tons of beautiful depictions of architecture and gardens, stolen kisses behind Akiellon pillars, gushy moments with flowers and statues, and intimate scenes. It also offers a glimpse of a peaceful future between Akielos and Vere which almost had me squeal. Furthermore, th [...]
It's going to take me a while to come up with words for how beautiful this story and Damen and Laurent's relationship is.This series. This couple. My heart is happy.
Look, I have nothing to say exceptc s pacat is a fucking genius and these thirty pages called for more highlighting than the whole of volume one did.you could just look at rin & silvia's reviews and make out an accurate state of my heart BUT this made me smile so much my heart felt like it was bursting out of my ribcage, so a mini review if you will:‘No, I—thinking about you and being with you are different, you’re always more powerful, more—’ ‘Go on.’ Damen felt a wellspring o [...]
LAURENT AND DAMEN OWN MY SOUL. THEY ARE MY BEAUTIFUL BABIES.I AM SO HAPPY. THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED IN AN EPILOGUE. ALL FANS OF THIS SERIES MUST READ THIS. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.5 / 5 FangsMrsLeif's Two Fangs About ItFacebookTwitter
"He loved the way that Laurent kissed, as if Damen was the only person that he had ever kissed, or would ever want to"CAN YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT?!??How is this even real like seriously how is it that we've been blessed with this woman. I don't care if this looks 100% taken right out of a fluffy fanfiction (and I'm not a big fanfiction reader myself) but it is everything I wanted (okey the smut could've been longer)I could literally read 400 pages of Damen and Laurent just enjoying their free time [...]
I MISSED THEM SO MUCH
---------------------------His smile widened. Laurent said, 'What?''You were watching the road,' said Damen.---------------------------A beautiful and sweet epilogue, that really should have been included at the end of book 3. It brings some answers and conclusions to loose ends from Kings Rising. But I also got to see the love between Laurent and Damen blossoming. If you've read #1-3 you will have to read this one. Two kings, lovers in the summer garden. *happy sigh*Source.
Una belleza. Indispensable
i really missed my cute babies
This really is a belated Christmas present, and surely what must be one of the most epic epilogues ever! I just sat, totally spellbound (again), surrounded by visions of a Roman type villa in the midst of height summer, virtually smelling the “sweet oils”, the heavy scent of pines and exotic flowers, mingling with the mellow sea air. I could see the sun sparkling on gently rolling waves of water in the distance and hear the hum of busy insects and the gentle chirping of crickets and cicadas. [...]
4 stars! **sigh** so sweet, so sexy, and so hot just what my little old heart needed from Damen and Laurent. Getting a glimpse or this two after what when down in the last book was perfect, it was obvious the depth of their love has grown in the way they touchedd what Laurent did for Damen was so incredible. It was like he was cleaning out their souls form all the bad they went through. Perfection! ❤
Favorite line: "You were watching the road."This short 30-page 'after-epilogue,' if you will, was very cute and extremely sweet. In short, we finally got to see Laurent remove the Veretian stick from his ass for more than 30 consecutive seconds. ;- )Behold, the cast iron bitch has melted. Slightly. Long live the King.I found the most touching part to be where Laurent was attending to Damen in the baths, and was washing Damen's previously-injured back. Past hurts that Laurent himself had inflicted [...]
4 StarsQuite lovely, as we the reader, get a taste of the potential and the evolution of Damen and Laurent in the aftermath of defeating their enemies.I concede, it wasn’t enough, and unless Pacat writes us a 4th book telling of how these two men merge their countries and their lives, I don’t think much will satiate my wants and needs.Overall, a sensual look showing Damen and Laurent on their way to healing. Again, I wanted more than what I got, but I’ll definitely take what was given.
4.5 Stars! Seeing my babies Laurent and Damen being so in love without reservation, their relationship coming so far with them being honest, open, truthful and sincere now, being so blissful in each other's company*satisfied sigh and approving nod*I feel like the emotional mother right now-happy, relieved, proud and grateful.
Sra. Pacat, gracias ♡.♡
wow i really hate believing in love this much, it's truly disconcerting.
