I liked this book. It gives a good overview of the odd sites and places to visit. It would be fun to turn this into a list and use this book to keep track of all the places you visit in Ohio.Downside: The author lets her political biases seep into the writing occasionally. It is annoying mostly because it usually has almost nothing to do with the Ohio site being written about. The puns the author uses when talking about many of the sites gets tired quickly.

The title of the book tells you exactly what the book covers. In a humorous, sometimes irreverent, style, the author gives the reader a short description of the many curiosities found throughout the state of Ohio. Most interesting are the stories behind these oddities. If you are looking for some light reading with a bit of history this would be the book to read.

This book fulfills requirement 11- Travel non-fiction for the 2014 eclectic reader challenge.I enjoyed reading about places to see in my home state. There were quite a few listed that I have already seen and there are many more that I haven't seen but want to visit. I think it would be really fun to set up Pinterest boards with the same divisions as in the book and post images as I visit the places. It would be like an online scrapbook of sorts. The one thing that bugged me is the author's need t [...]

Sandra Gurvis's "Ohio Curiosities, 2nd Edition: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities & Other Offbeat Stuff" is an easy to read guide showcasing some of the more unusual & to the non-native interesting things that the Buckeye State has to offer. Divided into 8 chapters (one for each of the states 5 regions & 1 for the 3 big cities), the book explores everything from the state's variety of museums, to offbeat roadside attractions to sculptures that still have Ohioans asking why is it e [...]

Nothing really new being born and raised in the buckeye state I think she could have found more odd stuff to write about. Sandra makes too many personal opinions on things when the reader could care less. Not one of the best Ohio books!!!

The book I'm reading has a different cover as it is the second edition published in 2011. It is an interesting read for odd places around Ohio. The hubby even read a bit in it. The book does list a couple of places in my town. It is definitely odd and quirky.

As we're looking to plan some summer weekend getaways, I read this book hoping to find the "largest ball of twine" type of attractions in Ohio. Some seem more fascinating than others but an interesting read nonetheless.
