I'm going to take a bit of wisdom from The Rembrants' "I'll Be There for You," which you know from Friends: "So no one told you life was gonna be this way / Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A." To read this, and other book reviews, visit my website: jenpaul13.wix/makinggoodst.That's it. That's the crux of it: your life sucks and it's going nowhere. At least, that's how it seemed for 35 year old Hadley in Dave Hunter's Reaper Inc. Hadley is a barista in Seattle, who just got [...]

Hadley's life isn't going quite the way he expected it to go. He thought he would be a rock star, but instead is an aging barista at the local coffee shop. That is until he gets recruited to be the latest reaper. This is just a short introductory story. It covers Hadley's recruitment, training, and first assignment. It is amusing and fast paced. The characters are interesting and fairly well developed, but have plenty of room to grow in later installments. There is a decent amount of harsh language [...]

Funny and irreverentShort - perhaps too short; it feels as if the author is selling the book one chapter at a time. That said, maybe he is and it may well work out for him - I've already bought the second book in the series because they're dirt cheap. But selling 8 dirt cheap books at 1/4 the price of a 320-page book is good marketing!Derivative - shades of Pratchett and Men In Black. But not so derivative as to take away from the fun.Plot? Well, almost non-existent. But the concept is simple an [...]

Super short read, but well worth it! It is original and funny read. The main character Hadley is an average everyday kind of guy that works at a coffee place, at 35 yrs old. Serving coffee to the the strange old guy that shows up at opening every day and asks for "coffee, black", until he comes in and asks for something completely random and then offers Hadley a strange job opportunity that is too beneficial to pass up. Loved it and will be reading the next installment of this series, thank you [...]

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review.Although only a short story, I found this quite an intriguing read.Following Hadley as he learn's to become a Reaper is quite funny in places and I look forward to reading the 2nd part. This certainly changes the way you think of Reapers and how they should act and look!!!This was completely a fresh outlook :)I look forward to reading more by this author.

What a Pleasant Surprise!I got this book on a recommendation from another author. I'm really glad I followed through on the suggestion because this book is a hoot! It is a short one, but don't let that keep your from buying it. It's worth the money. It's full of humor and will keep you entertained to the end. I'm heading over for the second book as soon as I post this.

Dave it was great!Great plot, fun read, entertaining back stories, and interesting spin. The only thing to selfishly suggest is more more Reapers Inc!

  • Randy Harmelink

Good for what it was, but it was NOT a short story. It was the start of a longer story. Just as I was really getting into the book, it just stopped.

  • Angie Hackett

Interesting enough read, well written and well edited. I wasn't entirely convinced by this book but that said it definitely interesting enough to keep me reading.

  • Rena
