    Dave Hunter's "Amped" provides an incredible overview on the history of the electric guitar amplifier. Covering amps from 1937-2011, he includes many amps of importance: Fender Tweeds and Blackfaces, Plexi-Marshalls, Vox AC-30s and numerous other classics! There are several photos of each amp and an explanation of the electronics/tubes that were used in each.
